New Delhi, Feb 20 (UNI) Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta took oath as the Chief Minister of Delhi on Thursday at the Ramlila Maidan here.

Ms Gupta arrived at the Delhi Secretariat at 3 pm in afternoon to formally assume charge. After that, she went to Vasudev Ghat in Yamuna Bazar to attend a programme at 5 pm.

She will chair the first Cabinet meeting later in the evening.

The first meeting of the new Council of Ministers has been convened at 7 pm at the Delhi Secretariat.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has come to power in Delhi after 27 years.

Lieutenant Governor V K Saxena administered the oath of office and secrecy to Gupta and her cabinet colleagues in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and top leaders of NDA constituents at a grand ceremony held at the historic Ramlila Maidan in the capital today.

Ms Gupta has been elected as BJP MLA from Shalimar Bagh area.

The seven ministers in the Cabinet are Parvesh Sahib Singh, Ashish Sood, Manjinder Singh Sirsa, Ravindra Indraj Singh, Kapil Mishra and Pankaj Kumar Singh.
